Digital Analytics meets eCommerce – Case Study

Creating an e-commerce KPI dashboard for a consumer goods corporation with digital analytics

Identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is an important step towards solid digital analytics. By using a dashboard, you can depict important KPIs (such as site visits, conversions and bounce rate) in an appealing manner.

Our client

The client we worked with is a globally operating consumer goods manufacturer.

Project:

The primary goal of this project was to create a dynamic dashboard for one of the group’s brands. The most important aspect was the management and evaluation of the social media campaigns.

The main purpose of this dashboard was to visualise the most important KPIs regarding traffic and conversions with regard to their source of entry, such as paid channels, organic channels, partner channels and landing pages. The defined KPIs (in terms of traffic and conversions) were segmented down and displayed using Microsoft Power Bi.

The collected data came from various data sources. The first step was to prepare the data in a logical and efficient form (in terms of filtering and speed) for visualisation tools.

The dashboard is dynamic and contains a set of advanced computed functions used to visualize and display the data.

Tools/Technologies

We used the following tools and technologies to create a dashboard for this project:

  • Microsoft Power BI
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Java Script
