Automated rules for Google Ads

Definition

Automated rules are useful for scheduling and automatically executing changes in the Google Ads account. The rules are settings that trigger a reaction after detecting predefined conditions. This reaction, in turn, changes defined settings in the Google Ads account.

Automated rules can automate routine tasks and optimisation actions, thus saving manual effort.

Automated rules can be used for the following actions:

  • Planning of ads, ad groups & campaigns
  • Editing ads & keywords
  • Adjustment & planning of bids
  • Checking & planning budgets & costs

Application example

A company has set a daily budget of 100 euros per day for a campaign. However, the marketing manager would be willing to increase the daily budget of this campaign in certain cases, e.g. for certain offline marketing campaigns, events or similar, before the campaign is restricted by Google Ads. Therefore, it creates an automatic rule that checks every day at 12 noon if 50 euros of the daily budget has already been used. If the condition is fulfilled, she gets an email sent to her, which tells her that 50 euros have already been spent. Now she can decide for herself whether she wants to increase the daily budget on that day or whether she wants to keep it and thus forgo clicks if necessary.
